Physically Fit Women Drastically Reduce Their Risk of Developing Dementia

Women’s Fitness Reduces Risk of Developing Dementia

In the March 14, 2018 issue online of Neurology®, the research studied 191 women with an average age of 50 years old at the start of the study. These women were followed over the course of 44 years and were tested 6 times during that period for dementia. The women were tested on cardiovascular ability and were divided into 3 groups.

  1. High fitness
  2. Medium fitness
  3. Low fitness

The results of the findings and the correlation of exercise and dementia were astounding.

  • 5% of the women in the High Fitness group developed dementia
  • 25% of the women in the Medium Fitness group developed dementia
  • 32% of the women in the Low Fitness group developed dementia
  • 45% of the women in who were not able to finish the cardiovascular test developed dementia

Study Reveals Alcohol to be the #1 Risk Factor for Dementia

Knowing that there is that kind of difference in reducing dementia through exercise, another study that was published in Lancet, February 20, 2018 was an observational study of over 1 million people who were diagnosed with dementia in France.

The researchers found that the single most preventable risk factor especially for early onset dementia was heavy, long-term, alcohol consumption (defined as more that 3 standard drinks per day.

We find that having a well-balanced body, balanced bio-chemistry along with a high level of fitness is paramount to creating and living a beautiful, healthy life.

There is a saying: Fitness is 20% exercise and 80% nutrition – the reality is that you cannot outrun your fork. Be sure to know which foods and supplements you should be utilizing more frequently and which you should be avoiding along with a relative fitness program such as NET-4.
